The Anticipation Of Carnival

The anticipation of Carnival here in ST Lucia is high, as the response online has been tremendous. Via facebook, twitter and e-mails, persons are getting excited, starting discussions, commenting on posts and more, as they anxiously await. Many await the new music, the overall season and some really can't wait to see what theme their band will be portraying. Thus far, Toxik and Just 4 Fun have released the tittle of their themes yet to show costume samples, while one of the most anticipated bands, Red Unlimited, is still holding back. What will be their theme, what will the costumes look like and more, are all questions being asked as carnival lovers anxiously await.
Meanwhile with regards to the latest music for carnival, Sir Lancealot and Teddyson John have already released new music, namely Whinning up and Signal respectively.
With all this and more going on and the St Lucia Carnival season getting ready to ignite soon, people are getting ready, waiting and are anticipating. St Lucia Carnival 2010, "I" must be in carn"I"val.

Groovy artiste Teddyson John, releases first song of the season...

One of St Lucia's most popular groovy soca artistes, Teddyson John, has released his first song of the upcoming 2010 Carnival season. "Signal" as the track is dubbed, is produced by the power duo of Penn and Ace of Studio 758, ST Lucia. As the season approaches, this song is now in heavy rotation on radio stations, giving St Lucians a taste of what's to come for Carnival 2010.

“JUST 4 Fun”- LEGENDERY 2010

In ancient and modern times and tradition, the marking of the tenth year is a celebratory affair and the first significant one in the order of anniversaries. This year, the year 2010, the year of the tiger in China, marks the tenth anniversary Just 4 Fun. Like the unique stripes of the tiger, Just 4 Fun has started mas in Saint Lucia’s carnival that has been both unique as well as innovative and awe inspiring.

As we celebrate our tenth anniversary, we reflect on the number 10. Both the Greeks and Hebrews held 10 to be the perfect number. Pythagoras considered that 10 comprehends all arithmetic and harmonic proportions, and, like God, is tireless. All nations calculated with it because when they arrive at 10, they return to 1, the number of creation.

Ten is said to be a number of completion, a number of mystical love as confessed by the Greeks. And so with this in mind, this year “Just 4 fun” celebrates our tenth year in carnival taking it back to a new beginning, taking it back to the source, a place where fun begins a place of love.

IZA LUCIAN- Celebrating St Lucian pride, as St Lucia turns 31 years of Independence!

St Lucia will on Monday February 22, celebrate thirty one years of Independence. St Lucians all over the island and where ever in the world they may be, will be partying or just showing their respect among other things, as their birth country celebrates. Already, celebrations to mark the 31st Independence has began and leading up to the big day on Monday February 22, activities are set to go into high gear. Church services and other official Independence activities will be taking place over the weekend, as well as a packed motor weekend.
From a classic car show in the south of the island, an island motorcycle motorcade, to a huge auto drag wars event, ST Lucia's Independence weekend, is set to be one with plenty activities.
SLUcarnival.com has created the campaign, IZA LUCIAN, and this campaign speaks for itself. "IZA-LUCIAN" is the slang for, I am a St. Lucian.
Originally created to be an annual National Day event which was held in 2007 & 2008 respectively, IZA-LUCIAN is now grown into a movement. It's all about the pride, the love for your own and setting the trend. As independence gets closer, we hope persons will be more patriotic and represents as proud St Lucians. JW & Blaze become the 2010 International Soca Monarch Champion

JW & Blaze, the powerful duo who have created a storm for the 2010 carnival season in Trinidad, are now the Soca Monarch champions and are now the first duo to ever win the title. Dressed in black, the two pushed defending champion Faye Ann Lyonns to the second position, as they secured their first soca monarch title. A night of color, lights, nerves and anticipation, made it a night to remember and one that created history. The oicial results of both Power Soca and Groovy are as follows:

Soca Monarch is on tonight!

The battle is on and come tonight this Fantastic Friday in Trinidad, artistes will compete to gain the coveted title of Soca Monarch 2010. This year will see competitors from Grenada, St Vincent, Barbados among others and the host country Trinidad. Faye Ann Lyonns is the defending Soca Monarch champion and by the looks of things, she is ready to defend her title. ST Lucia's own Studio 758, are the producers behind Faye Ann's power hits, which has been getting much airplay and response at the fetes.
This year, Soca Monarch will feature some of the biggest party hits that has been gaining increase crowd response through the season. Songs such as Palance by JW & Blaze, Police by Shal Mashall and Screws, Template by TC among others, are big competitors in this competition. Who will take home the crown? The stage is set, the vibe is ready and it is time for the 2010 International Soca Monarch, this Fantastic Friday, February 12, Trinidad.

The night that ignited it all

Friday February 05, was indeed a night all about soca music. Pulse nightclub was on fire as SLUcarnival.com hosted the I LOVE SOCA event. The event featured music by DJ Iwa, Levi Chin, DJ Play, MC Scady and VL. The night was all about party hits, vibes and energy. Persons came out to support this event and indeed did enjoy a night of good vibes.
As the carnival season gets into gear in St Lucia, persons can definitely look forward to alot more, as SLUcarnival.com get persons ready for the road. St Lucia carnival is definitely one to look out for in July and SLUcarnival will be right there to bring you all the action and vibes.

Yes, the big party to jump start all the bachannal, is getting closer. Although St Lucia Carnival is in July, SLUcarnival.com is taking it to a different level. "I LOVE SOCA" the Trinidad Destination event kicks off on Friday February 05 @ The Pulse Night Club. The night will be one to remember as the party gets in high gear. Costumes, energy, vibes, soca music and party people, all will create the elements of a great night.

TNT Carnival Link Up Part 1

So as you know, Trinidad's Carnival is currently on and looks like vibes real nice. SLUcarnival deinitely had to get our own source down in Trinidad and by the looks of it, things are really shaping up. The fetes are packing up by the thousands even though some of the ticket prices are pocket busting, the music level is high and the energy level is just sky rocketing. Many people are still in their own countries and getting ready to hit Trinidad pretty soon, just before the last week of everything.
One of the biggest talks right now is the Soca Monarch, going down on Fantastic Friday February 12. With names such as Bunji garlin, Sherwin Winchester and others not in the Power Monarch,who will take this one? Will it be the defending Faye Ann, the Palancing Crew JW & Blaze, The Police in D Session Crew Shall, or maybe the beast will leh-go when Skinny Fabulous hits the stage. It will be very interesting to see who exactly will take home that Power Monarch and also take the top spots.
As the countdown to Trinidad Carnival gets closer and closer, we at SLUcanival will be linking up with the crew in Trinidad, as we give you updates as to what's going on for Trinidad Carnival as best we can. Our carnival, St Lucia Carnival, will soon be here in July and the road to carnival looks fantastic. RICKY T not advancing to TNT Soca Monarch Finals

The results are in and St Lucia's reigning Power Soca Monarch champion, Ricky T, has not qualified to the final stages of the 2010 TNT Soca Monarch. Although he competed in the semi finals he was unable to secure a spot on the big stage.
In 2008 Ricky T along with his label SLU Records, attempted to compete to reach the Semi Final round of the Soca Monarch and was successful. They later went on to secure a spot in the finals, with the hit song Pressure.
In 2009, the rules were changed as the reigning Soca Monarch champion from a Caribbean island, would automatically get a place in the finals of the Soca Monarch. Ricky T along with his label, then went on to compete on the big stage, performing the song Wheel and Come Again.
After this and a successful 2009 win for Ricky T, coping the Power Soca Monarch, Caribbean Soca Monarch and Road March home in ST Lucia, Ricky T and SLU Records dissolved their management contract due to various reasons. After winning in his country, you would think that he would automatically have his seat seeded in the 2010 TNT Soca monarch right? This was not the case.
The reason behind the cause for this not happening has yet to be disclosed. There is much talk as to reasons why this has happened, but we have not received any official word on why this is the case. As it stands now, Ricky T will not be competing at the 2010 TNT Power Soca Monarch finals competition on Fantastic Friday February 12, Trinidad.
What ever the reason may be, we hope that his gets cleared up quickly as we move into a successful 2010 St Lucia Carnival season. Hats off to you Ricky T for a well deserved effort.

The St Lucian entertainment website www.slucarnival.com, which came on the scene in March of 2009, is making their mark on the 2010 St Lucia carnival scene with a bang.
